IN YOUR FACE PRODUCT PLACEMENT

On Sunday I caught some of Real World Road Rules Challenge, a spin-off from MTV’s other reality shows. Whenever they get a mission via text message, you get the unsmoothest product placement in entertainment history:

“Hey guys, we got a text message on our T-Mobile Sidekick Two.”

No one talks like that.

I can’t bring myself to watch MTV anymore.

It’s all stupid reality TV, and incessant losers that need to know all the ins and outs of some rock stars (or Hip Hop) life.

Please, I don’t give a fuck. Play music videos you tramps.

I heard on NPR this morning something about the producers of Nanny 911 having the destraught families implanting product language during the show?

    A) I feel bad for those families who have to call Nanny 911.
    B) I feel even worse for them that they become slaves to the man.

I agree. When I read this post on my Toshiba Satellite laptop, while sitting in my brand new Crate & Barrel chair, I thought the same thing…

Heh, I noticed that too. I actually caught a snippet of that show last night when I was channel-surfing on my Samsung flat-screen TV.

What ever happened to the MUSIC aspect of MTV? And in my opinion, TRL or whatever the fuck it is does not count.

I didn’t mind the other shows on MTV back in the day when they played a lot of music. Those shows were actually ENTERTAINING. Although I know it’s a dumb show, Beavis and Butthead could keep me entertained for hours. It probably still could if I had the time to watch a lot of television

Once Headbanger’s Ball, Beavis and Butthead, Liquid Television, etc. went off the air MTV really just sucked (IMO). Now I can’t watch 5 minutes of it without wanting to stick my head in the oven.

I have to admit I watch entirely too much MTV. It’s great for unintentional comedy. However, I probably watch even more MTV2. The music video to TV show ratio is high, but even the shows are pretty solid. Wonder Showzen might be the funniest thing on TV since Beavis & Butthead. I highly recommend it.

    Oh snap!

I loooooove Wonder Showzen. That may be the only reason I ever watch an MTV channel. That show is fuckin hilarious.
